“The” Swap Soirée Marks Another Sold-Out Success with The Breakfast Club Theme Experience
Tampa’s premier and trendsetting sustainability movement continued this September with another pop-up experience, “The” Breakfast Club: A Clothing Swap Soirée, a high-style, high-impact evening celebrating sustainable fashion and community connection.
Hosted mid-September at Centro Asturiano de Tampa in Ybor City, the fourth edition of “The” Swap Soirée set a new benchmark, bringing together the largest community of vendors, partners, and swappers to date.
As the original cult classic celebrated its 40th anniversary, “The” Breakfast Club soirée paid homage to the film’s iconic characters, their unforgettable wardrobes, and the distinct personalities that defined a generation. Attendees embraced the nostalgia of rebellion, self-expression, and high style with a sustainable twist.
Beyond the clothing swap, fayVen—Tampa Bay’s go-to marketplace for pop-up experiences—curated a vibrant lineup of local vendors fostering more space activation and free activities for the community. From artisan jewelry and handcrafted goods to beauty and lifestyle, these vendors embodied the same spirit of creativity and sustainability that defines the swap. The night featured additional free community activities, including a live screening of The Breakfast Club, a cash bar, temporary tattoo station, doodle wall, and more.
For those interested in participating in the clothing swap portion, a ticket was required with three ticket tiers and shopping experiences offered, specially catered to make sustainable fashion easy and accessible for all. Ticket-holders enjoyed a boutique-style swap environment featuring a beautifully merchandised collection of preloved fashion, a curated vendor market, a cash bar, and community vibes. Swap contributions were quality-checked to maintain the Soirée’s signature on-trend aesthetic, and all unclaimed pieces were donated to a local nonprofit—extending the impact beyond the event.
For the last three editions of “The” Swap Soirée, Mercy Full Project has joined the movement with adoptable pups and opportunities for guests to get involved as volunteers. Their presence creates a powerful alignment between ethical living, conscious fashion, and compassionate choices—reminding our community that sustainability extends beyond our closets. By encouraging attendees to “adopt, don’t shop,” Mercy Full reinforces the soirée’s values of mindful consumption while spotlighting the urgent needs of local animals and shelters.
Blending fashion, culture, and community energy, “The” Swap Soirée continues to redefine how Tampa Bay connects with style. Launched by a trio of Tampa-based, women-owned businesses the movement has become Tampa Bay’s go-to pop-up boutique clothing swap series. Each edition elevates the traditional exchange into a curated experience that champions sustainable style, supports local businesses, and builds community with plans in place already for a 5th Edit this winter.
The creative forces behind “The” Swap Soirée include:
Allison Ernst, founder of Stacked by Prevail, a jewelry brand rooted in sustainability and individuality
Jhordan Oviedo, beauty entrepreneur and owner of Beauty by Jhor
Amanda Gonzalez, founder of KeepEdgy & Co., a marketing and brand engagement collective
Together, they’ve tapped into their individual skill sets and combined their shared passions to build a vibe-forward function that redefines sustainable fashion in Tampa.
From its pilot events at Hotel Haya to its expansion into historic venues like Centro Ybor and Centro Asturiano, “The” Swap Soirée has grown into a citywide movement—building community around sustainable fashion, cultural collaboration, and small business activation.
In less than a year, the movement has helped extend the fashion lifecycle for nearly 2,000 pieces of clothing across Tampa Bay. That’s the definition of high-style, high-impact.
